SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
Mobile app development
QSD has maintained Ukulele applications for Instrument-tuning, Chord learning, and Tabs & Chords for almost a decade. We strive to provide the users with the best tuning and learning experiences, listen to users’ feedback, and continuously improve the app with our users’ help.
Backend
Technologies used: PHP, Laravel
This typically included three major parts:
- The server which receives requests;
- The app which is running on the server listens for requests, retrieves information from the database, and sends a response;
- The database which is used to organize and persist data.
Frontend
Technologies used: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Mobile
Technologies used: Kotlin, Java
The challenge was to create an app with a complex audio module that could correctly recognize the incoming sound. The challenge was more significant because Android exists on a few thousand different devices, and each of them has different mic hardware.
CHALLENGE
The client required professional maintenance on existing projects and multiple improvements for his apps, a complete redesign of one of the applications, and a new set of features for a better user experience. An additional difficulty was making it all work with the full range of Android devices. Each has different microphone hardware, so the audio module had to work flawlessly on every device.
SOLUTION
After deducing the most wanted and optimal features users wanted and required, we completely redesigned with a new, fresh & user-friendly UI, which remains to this day. Following that, we were left in charge of maintaining and continuously developing new features for all of the apps and creating new apps not based on ukulele, further expanding our customers’ business portfolio and expanding from a single niche to multiple sources. Today, we are working on a set of 6 apps, with several more incoming soon.
